After leaving Samohi I join the navy spent the first 3 years in viet-nam. When I came back I got married (still married) I have 5 kids and six grandkids....Life is good...I don't think anybody will remember me, but if you do, send me an e-mail.
I moved to the beautiful Northwest, Coeur d'Alene area, in 1978. I am married to Ron Houck (class of '68) and we have 2 sons, Derek age 25 and Jason age 22. Went to the 10 yr. and 20 yr. reunions and would love to hear from Samohi friends. WOW! Has it really been 35 years?!! 2/19/06
I've worked for the Army for 30 years, have 2 kid's, Kimberly 29 and Cody 26. Was married for 28 years until my wife Jill passed away last year.

Most of you will not remember me. I only attended samohi for half of my junior year and then senior year. And with the exception of doug broadwell (71), i only remember first names for melissa, patricia and greg. I am glad to note from reading other messages that many of you are in the same boat. As for me, i moved to the valley and then here to northern (way northern) california where i have been since 1976. I have been married for 25 years and have a son who is entering college this fall after living in new zealand for a year. My life is quiet and the air is clear. God is good. There are several alumnus living here in trinity county. Purchasing the directory was a great buy. High school remains a blur but i would love to correspond with any of you. Have a great summer.
Greetings from two on-line alumni! (and Nancy Stolee Barnet , '72)
I lost my 18 year old daughter during the Thanksgiving 2006 weekend, who died in an offroad Yamaha Rhino accident. I learned how blessed my wife and Dani's four brothers were to have her for the past 18 years and how she enriched not only our lives, but the lives of so many others. A scholarship fund was established in her name and five student athletes and scholars were the first recipients. Only those persons who have experienced a similar loss will understand how her passing has affected us and changed our lives. My advice to others is to appreciate your loved ones, and to show that appreciation as much as you can and as often as you can.
Hey everyone check out my webpage! Just click the link below and away we go!
Bravo!

Well, with our busy lives, I'm not sure how many of us are actually looking into this site, but since I just received the latest issue of the Viking News, I'm trying to send a message of sympathy. I was very distressed to learn of Gordon's death. I saw him at the reunion, but had no idea that he was sick and I guess he just wanted to keep it that way, which I understand and respect, but it would have been nice to see him again. Anyway, as the address states I am back in CA., at least for a while. My husband is stationed in San Diego, so we'll be here for a while. I would love to hear from other classmates. If anyone knows the address so I can send Gordon's mom/dad/brother a card, I would appreciate it.
Greetings! Short History: 1974: Stanford; 1977: U.S.C. Law Skoool; 1985 Harvard M.P.A. 1979-99: L.A. City Attorney's Office. 1986: married to Leonie de Souza; 1997: we moved up to Ottawa, Ontario Canada, where I'm now in private practice. If you love skiing and skating, this is the place...a wee bit different from growing up in Malibu...eh?
Still alive and well - Monika (Siefert) Carberry and I are celebratng our 34th anniversary this year. We finally moved from our home of 24 years in Manchester to the new location, north of Gig Harbor. Son Sean is married and working in Seattle for NW Source, a website sponsored by the Seattle Times. He uses his visual communications degree to manage site useability. Monika continues managing IT services and administrative staff for a large, fire district north of us. I am a Senior Manager with IBM and still am spending the majorty of my time on the road. When home, I enjoy sailing and gardening (who would have thought - the gardening, that is!). Monika and I try to get out of Seattle at least every other year and have had interestng vacations in Central and South America. As I said previously, gotta go somewhere where it doesn't rain continuously in the winter. I do get a chance to practice Forrest Freed's and Hector Miranda's Spanish, as well, but probably not very well. I did make contact with a few class of '71 alumni via email. Thanks for your updates. I try to keep in touch with Steve Nesset as much as possible; Monika and I had the priveledge of attending his wedding in Phoenix the year before last (2005). Steve and I met in 8th grade at Lincoln and have been friends since. His mom and sisters are my second famly. Best wishes to the class of '71 and wishing you all the best! Andy Carberry
Hi, I have been married for 26 years, have 2 sons, Matt 24 and Greg 21. I am back in california after living in Beaverton Oregon for 17 years. My husband Jerry was transferred with his company. Great to be back in sunshine again and closer to my parents in Santa Monica, who still live in the same house I grew up in. Love to hear from anyone who remembers me. I am sad that I missed the reunion again, wish I knew about it...send me pictures. Anyone know where Marsha Clough is. I would love to get in contact with her. Alt email, annac1153@yahoo.com
Hello from Sister Viking Twila Cearley Class of '71, I've been
out of touch for so long. So many friends have come and gone.Hopefully
we can round up many classmates for the big 30 reunion. I spent
my time after graduation bumming around. The I went in to the
ARMY, being all I could be. Now I'm out after 16 yrs, Flying like
an Eagle for the U.S.Postal Service, as a mail lady in Glendale.
I'm still in quest of Nirvana! Looking over some of the things
that our classmates have accomplished over the years, teachers,
police, adventurers, tradespeople, professionals of each and kind,
makes me feel proud to have been a part of a great tradition.
Reflecting back on the carefree days of being a teenager almost
30 yrs. ago, to the problems of today, I'd say we had it made!
So until we meet again, this is Sister Viking Twila, saying so
long!
Have been living in Northern California, (Placerville area, between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe) since 1982. Have been married to my wife Paula for over 25 years and have two grown children. I started the Northern California SAMOHI Alumni site (http://www.samohi.com) about four years ago and it has been a great experience getting reacquainted with old friends and making new ones. I would love to hear from you and please stop by the samohi.com web site and join the discussion group; I think you’ll enjoy it.
After graduating from CSUN with a degree in Food Science, I started working at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics as a flight test engineer. I've been there nearly 29 years. Got a MBA in 1998 as a 'just in case' fall back plan. I've lived in Palmdale, CA for over 25 years. It's just like the beach, but without the water. Ha! I've been married for 22 years to another Lockheed flight tester. Life is grand.

We are both University of Washington graduates(Master of Social Work), and have a private counseling practice in Kalispell (near Glacier Natl Park). Living in San Clemente since 1989. My husband Mike (Upland High '68) can bike into Trestles to take advantage of the world class surf right from our driveway! Some of you may remember my dad's business, CON SURFBOARDS, on Pico Blvd. one block from campus. I still own my '59 VW bug (Black Beauty), my very first car that got me from Latigo Shore Drive to Samohi every school day. We have two children...Jesse ('77) and Vanessa ('84). We're empty-nesters now (where did the time go???). Mike and Jesse love to take out our Hydra Sport (21cc) from Dana Point Harbor and chase down whatever is in the local waters. Vanessa graduated from Cal State Long Beach in '06 (4 years...you go girl!! and a full scholarship to boot!) Jesse works for UPS. I'm a service manager at Wells Fargo Bank in Dana Point. Mike builds custom homes in Newport Beach and Corona Del Mar. We're planning a trip to Fiji later this year, to check out the surf, local eats, and to drop a line or two.
Dear Friends, Just letting you know that we have changed our email address. Would like to hear from other classmate. Charles

Hello from Maryland! Since leaving Santa Monica Police Dept in 1992, I, my wife Becky and my 2 sons Peter and Kelly moved to Maryland so that I could attend grad school at the American University in Washington, DC. I now work as an instructor for the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Cheltenham, MD with a little over 5 years with the Federal government. As much as I disliked being a student when I was a kid, I now teach emergency vehicle operations, firearms and assorted other topics. Becky and I have been married for almost 19 years and our son Peter is 16 and other son Kelly is 12. Life is considerably different in a town of about 1,500 people. It is actually a lot like the Santa Monica that we grew up in! I did manage to make it to the 30th reunion and enjoyed seeing all of you who attended. Despite the fact that I live nearly 3,000 miles away, I think of Santa Monica and the beach often. If you are ever back in the Washington DC or Baltimore area, please give me a call!

I think this is the class I graduated in, I remembered Brenda Brown, and saw her listing here. I didn't participate much in high-school. That quality may have carried with me through the years. I am not a CEO. I don't write exciting software packages. I've never earned enough to buy 30 acres of anything anywhere. But I've made it through the years. Does that count?
I doubt anyone will recall my name, which is okay. I saw this site and wanted to support it with my entry. Thanks '95 class, cool site! geeze. do people really belong to a '95 class???? gawd.
I got old. ICK
I'm living in Mountain View, 30 miles south of SF. Any other Samohi-ites nearby? I went to UC Santa Cruz & UC Berkeley for a B.A. in Art History, then worked as a typesetter (this is pre-PCs) in Santa Monica (Heath & Assoc. on Pico). Met my husband-to-be Peter in the UCLA Sierra Club, and we both moved to Poughkeepsie, NY for awhile. I missed California weather so we've been in the Bay Area for 20 years. We combined our last names (Elbaum & Roeder) to create the combined "Elderon." We have 2 daughters, ages 16 & 14, a basset hound and a cat. I'm now a teacher's aide in 2nd and 3rd grades, which leaves plenty of time to be a mom, my favorite job. All email welcome!
I married Mark Anderson (Lynn Anderson's brother). I've been with him since John Adams at 14 years old. I own an insurance agency, specializing in employee benefits. I have 2 children, Shane 28 and Jessice 23. Jessi has a two year old son and will deliver a baby girl in mid May. We have lived in Idaho for 26 years and love it. I'd love to hear from classmates. Since finding this webpage, I have been in contact with a few folks. Look forward to hearing from you.
New exhibit coming up in Klamath Falls, OR in June. Entitled "CLASSIC! The Cars of the Kruise", it is a photo study on an event held in Klamath Falls every year called The Klamath Kruise. If you live near the area, or are NIN the area, the exhibit runs from 1 June 'til the 30th, and our opening is the 5th. Other than that, we're very happy (myself and Vicki Heighton Firth, class of 71), 2 kids married, one beautiful grandchild named Madison, 3 dogs, 3 cats, 3 horses, 2 rats (ooh, I LOVE to rhyme!) and a whole lotta love! E-mail and say HI, I promise I'll reply

Howdy. What a great page. Am currently single and living in Long Beach. Have 3 grown children and 3 grandchildren. I'd enjoy hearing from anyone. Hope I remember you all!
Short history--after high school, I graduated from UCSB with degrees in Geology and Aquatic Biology. Worked and lived on Catalina Island after that--spent alot of time diving and ocean kayaking. Was about to start applying for graduate school when I met and married my husband Ron. Plans changed then! We now have 4 boys--ages 16 down to 6. My greatest and most challenging endeavor has been being a mom. I never did realize my goal of being an oceanographer, but I hope to teach science in the future(after the kids are grown). Hey, has anyone heard for Ruth Poole? The last I knew, she was majoring in French and Math at UCLA back in the 70's. Take care, and God Bless You! -- Irene
Life is short. Finishing my second masters this semester and teaching eelementary school munchkins and loving it. Look forward to being poor and having summers off. Life is good.
Hello Everyone! Well, I'm still kicking. Been in Bellingham, Washington since 1985. Back in the days when this was a fishing/logging town. Now that it has been declared the #1 place to retire by AARP, I should find a new town to live. Any ideas?
Worked in the audio/video recording industry and played bass guitar in rock bands. Got married in 1983, had a beautiful daughter Andrea, in 1986. Still in Santa Monica working at Crossroads School for Arts and Sciences since 1986 in facilities management.
Okay, 30 years in 75 words or less: Graduated from Berkeley in 1975; worked for about 3 years; graduated from Hastings Law School in 1981; moved to the East Coast right after law school and worked in upstate New York and Manhattan until 1998 (hated it for the last 12 years); moved to Bainbridge Island, WA, and started working in Seattle in August 1998; married Johnene Granger in 1985; Charles or Charlie (he calls himself "Chuck," but we don't) was born in 1989; Jacob followed in 1993. Close: 79 words.
When I lived in Santa Monica, all I wanted to do was move back to the San Francisco area. What I've realized over the last three decades is how many good memories I have of Santa Monica and the people I knew there. If you're going to be up in the Seattle area, get in touch.
Well... Thirty-five years later. Going to the reunion Picnic on July 14, 2007. Hope to see you all there! Been working at CBS for 27 years and still live on the Westside.
I currently live in Tyler Texas. We moved here in 1988. I sell auto parts, but after doing that and fixing cars for 30 years I think i'm ready for a change. I hope to return to the ocean soon. My goal is to live on a boat for a few years, and travel up and down the coast. I miss the ocean alot.
I'm working as a shelver at the Magna Library, hence the name "dragon-shelver" for my E-mail address. The dragon comes from my love of sci-fi and fantasy books! Let's let other alums know about this web page. We didn't make it to our 25th reunion but we plan on the 30th!
Just want to add, that Peter Firth (71) and I have been married for 27 years now and we have seven children. Our oldest is Noelle, 26, then Justin, 25, Shannon, 24, Stephanie, 22, B.J., 20, Hanna, 17, and Cory, 15. We also have a grand daughter, Madison, 16 months who is the delight of our lives! B.J. and his wife, Melinda are the proud parents. No one else is married, yet. I hope to see all the former Viking Chorale members at the reunion! Let's sing our school song!
Currently working as office manager for a great harley-davidson dealership. Love being a grandma, have three grandsons, two daughters.

Nowadays I am a Business Management Consultant for a SCM software company. Anyone from the Class of 71 (or anyone I know from Samohi) is more then welcome to stop by if in the Fort Worth Texas area, all we ask is that you call or email us in advance. Kim & Thressa Keist A few words: Over-worked, under-paid Northrop Corp. employee since 1974. Over-worked, under-paid Electrical Technician since 1978. Under-worked, over-paid Aerospace Engineer since 1982. I moved from Santa Monica to Culver City in 1979 and Married a wonderful Teacher in 1980, we had a healthy baby boy in 1982. We moved from Culver City to Edmond Oklahoma in 1998 with my job on the Northrop B-2 Bomber Program, sad to leave California but glad to go, first year of High School for our son and the first shooting episode at Culver City High School. Moved from Edmond Oklahoma to Fort Worth Texas in 2003 with my job on the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter [JSF] Program as a Northrop Grumman Engineer. Started collecting and restoring Pinball Games in 1998 as we couldn’t find any to play once we moved to Oklahoma. BIG MISTAKE, now we have a collection that keeps growing and what started as a part time job in High School for spending money as an Electronics major is now a part time job and hobby AGAIN. In 2006 I started a Pinball Restoration and Repair Business and created my web site for KimBall’s PinBall’s which has been somewhat busier then I expected. My favorite saying: I may be getting older but I refuse to grow up! My best to all ;-)
I hope that you are all doing well!

Greetings! Would love to hear from anyone who might remember me from Will Rogers, John Adams or Samohi. Living in Hawthorne, CA (near the LA airport) with my wife of 30 years and two kids; one attending CSULB and the other in the animation field. I'm a CA certificated elementary teacher and taught 3rd grade until this last summer. I'm not teaching now and am looking to transition into a new career. Love playing tour guide all over CA and the US for friends, friends of friends, and family. Love my new digital camera and think I have a good eye and want to learn more. Also loved creating a 1,500 sq. foot garden for my students and former school. So, let me know if you need a good guy to work for/with you. It's been quite enjoyable (and personally moving attending Samohi choir concerts) these last 4 years enjoying my daughter going through the choral program at Samohi under the amazing Christopher Rhodes (who now is conducting in Texas). The program had about 350 kids in it. Again, would enjoy hearing from you! Jeff Lowe
Living in (ugh!) the Valley but life is good. Married 21 years and my oldest son just started college...Now THAT makes you feel old. Son number two is in "middle school" (what happened to Jr. High School?) and doing well. Hope to see some old friends at our 30th next year.

Beaverton, Oregon 2006 Hi to all! Though I went to school in San Diego (UCSD), I wound up back in Santa Monica--close enough to Samo to hear the band!--with my husband, Kerry, until his death after 12 years together. Lots of roller skating on the beach! More recently, I worked at the Huntley Hotel (Toppers Restaurant) in SM for 18 years after attending Otis/Parsons to get my Fine Arts degree. Lots of California hiking and travelling with a very good friend during this period. And, now, my wonderful husband of 4 years, Brian Harris (Samo 1977!), and I have just moved from Hollywood to Beaverton/Portland, Oregon. A huge change, and we`re loving it--despite the 12 inches of rain last month. Otherwise, I`m continuing to do freelance graphic work and fine art painting and looking forward to our future together up here.

I spent last summer on a journey of exploration and independence.
In seven weeks and 8,000 miles I encountered many friends, many
awesome sights and new understandings. I still teach and live
on the outskirts of Washington, D.C. I am contemplating a return
to live in California next summer. Interested in a 30 year reunion.

Went on to Art Center College and studied Fine Art. Began a long and active career as a "Performance Artist" (whatever that means!). I've enjoyed a lot of travel in my career. I have performed, lectured and exhibited all over the country and abroad. I grew up in Santa Monica and I've continued to live here all my life except for about 10 years in my early adulthood when I lived in Venice, CA, Downtown LA, Hollywood (yuch!) and New York City. I've been married twice and could have been married another 3 times, no kids, although I'm very involved and very much in love with an ex-wife's son. To my classmate Tim Thiers ('71), Rest In Peace, my brother. You'd be happy to know that Charlie Watts is still the greatest drummer ever...I wish I could talk to you again about girls and cars.

Hello to all my old friends from SAMOHI! Hope to see all of you at the 30 year reunion in August 2001.
I have been living in Vancouver, Washington (across the Columbia River from Portland, Oregon) for 13 years. I build web sites and do software support, training and installations for a computer company where I have worked for 15 years. In my spare time I do Search and Rescue around Mt. St. Helens. I also enjoy cross-country skiing, caving, mountain-biking, hiking, mountaineering, snowmobiling and running. I have a dog (Doberman) and a husband, Rick, who also is involved in Search and Rescue. We enjoy trips to Hawaii for snorkeling and scuba diving. Life is good in Pacific Northwest.
Would love to hear from any of my Samohi classmates!
Life goes on! Sold the child-rearing house on the middlefork of the Clearwater River. Sent the youngest, Jack, to the U. of Idaho where he is a member of the track team (he pole vaults). Moved to New Meadows here in Idaho to be an elementary principal/ski bun/emt. LIFE IS GOOD!!

For the past 17 years I have lived in Southeast Idaho(American Falls)which sits on the Oregon Trail overlooking the Snake River. I am married and have lots of step children, all grown up thank goodness. I work for the American Falls School District doing payroll and I love to travel. Idaho is alot different from Santa Monica but I have really learned to love it. It's fun to visit nearby Sun Valley, Jackson Hole, WY., and Yellowstone Park. I get back to SM at least once a year to visit the folks. Would love to hear from classmates.
I am a clinical assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin Law School, and also in private law practice with my husband (Joe) in Baraboo, Wisconsin (population 10,000). We have two children, Zach (2-29-87) and Ian (2-9-87). I do all the small town things: I serve on the planning commission, sing tenor in the church (First Congregational-UCC) choir and serve on the board of trustees. I am a Rotarian. I have a general civil law practice with an emphasis on guardian ad litem work and adoptions. At the law school, I teach General Practice Skills and Client Interviewing & Counseling.
Seems like forever since high school, which makes sense because it has been almost forever. "Never trust anyone over 30" . . . and now our high school years are "over 30"!
