What an interesting year. I have seen and talked to many of you gone through a divorce (good thing), moved, done a lot of traveling, and found out that it is a good thing to be able to laugh and enjoy life again. NOT happy, I do recommend finding yourself through whatever means available and believe me I am not an overly religious person. To the RBWT (you know who you are) and the rest of you relax, enjoy, and appreciate.

It's great to find this Web site and see all the people listed here. As for
me, I live in Pacifica, which is on the coast (where else?) about 20 miles south
of San Francisco. I've been with my partner, John, for more than 12 years. I
started my own marketing consulting business more than 4 years ago, and have
really enjoyed being out on my own after working as an office drone for many
years. I love to travel and have been to Europe many times, including several
trips to Italy. which is by far my favorite country. I'm in touch with a few
people from our class, but would enjoy hearing from anyone else who's interested
in corresponding.

I am still a Los Angeles Police Officer and have been there for over 20 years. After being civilianized from my video job there, I now teach high speed driving. This is a natural for me. I just don't get to do it in a '60 cad convertable like I used in High School.
deceased
So his friends will know, John passed away in 2004. He received a BA in Pyschology from UCLA and lived in Santa Monica. John was a lot of fun and a good soul.
Am currently a full time wife and mother. My oldest son, Shawn, just
completed his 2nd year of college at Marquette University in Milwaukee.
He's
been manager of their girls' volleyball team for the past 2 years. Kevin,
my
youngest son, will be a senior at Westlake High. He's very active in club
soccer and hopes to pursue the sport in college. I've been remarried for
almost 11 years and have two stepdaughters in college. I'd love to hear
from
fellow classmates and am looking forward to our 30th reunion!
I've been (happily) married to Dennis Payne ('71) for 22 years
and we still live in Santa Monica. Our two children are now both
at
Samohi: Sam in the Class of 1999 and Emily in 2002. We'd love
to hear from lost friends.
I work on mercedes,jaquars,ferrari'etc.
Have you had your "bud" today ?
After stints in academe (Berkeley & UCLA) and think tanks (National Academy of Sciences), I'm now working for TIAA-CREF (pensions for professors) in New York. I have two kids: Julia, who's at Oberlin College, and James, age 9. I take my boogie board whenever I know I'll be near waves and we spend a week every summer on Catalina. Guess where I'd rather be?
I am currently separated from my Wife Karen, but we continue to work things out. I have two step-daughters, Samantha, 25, head swim instructor at Daland Swim School in Thousand OAks, CA; and Rachel, 21, a 2LT in the US Army, soon to be stationed in Korea. We have one son Jeremy, 12, who is active in scouting, sports and drama. I am a programmer at The Capital Group in downtown Los Angeles, and have also worked at Hughes Aircraft and the Rockwell Science Center over the years. It doesn't seem possible that as of this writing, we all graduated from Samohi 33 years ago.
I am currently relocating from Sherman Oaks to Vista,California.Still performing vocal and keys anywhere that will have me!!! Ha!I now have a web-page and 4 C.D'S of my songs written for my group the Devonairs. You can listen to 3 of them at http://www.myspace.com/devonmarlinhenderson.
Kirk Thompson (Venice High, '72) and I have lived in Redding, CA, for over 20 years, and we love it here. I'm now a Licensed Clinical Social Worker managing the first (and only) clinical Infant Mental Health program north of Sacramento. That means I'm a baby shrink! Our daughter, Nadia, graduated from CSU Chico this year (2003) with a BA in Child Development. She is planning on earning her Masters in Social Work in a few years..... Like mother, like daughter. Nadia is engaged to be married to a wonderful young man in June, 2004. Kirk and I are very, very proud of her. If anyone is traveling our way, give us a call. We have a spare bedroom for our friends.
I find myself mid 50”s and single living about an hour out side of Boston MA for about 14 years now and enjoying life. I live in an old New England small town on a pond. Each day I watch the play of nature from my office window but still live near enough to Boston for all of its art and culture. I work as a Construction Manager for building luxury homes but my real work is land conservation and other related environmental issues. I have to say this California native finds he is, at heart, a Yankee. Through Cyber space I have become connected to a few old friends from my formative years to remind me of the good times I had and that I (hopefully) have grown past the mistakes I have made. Contentment may a far better goal than enlightenment as you ease into it with age rather that pursue it with the passions of youth. Drop a line if you feel so inclined.
Anchorage, AK 99515
I'm a teacher of T'ai Chi Chih and Process Acupressure. I combine acupressure with Cranio-Sacral work and a touch of Reiki. My son is 17 and doing great. Life is good.
Miss the old haunts. The restaurant of the corner of Pico and Lincoln was my favorite place to go for Pastrami Sandwiches. Is it still there? I've traveled a lot, retired from one carreer and am in the middle of my next. I'd love to visit the old crew from Samo in Santa Monica or welcome them here to my home in Florida.
Please keep me informed as to what is going on with the folks. Remember when the cannon was stolen from the quad? I didn't do it but was there when it happened. The Rent-A-Cops put up a great chase. It was back the next day, but it was an awesome way to start the day.
Cheers

Greetings to all ... and nice to see all your faces and stories! I have traveled many roads since "the good old days", and have contributed 3 to the gene pool: Monica, 19 is a sophmore at the University of Redlands, studying to be a museum curator; Celeste, 15, is in 9th grade at Durango High School in Las Vegas, planning to be the next Martha Stewart or Rod Serling; Alex, 9, lives in Marina del Rey, and his hero is either Laird Hamilton, Kelly Slater, or Joel Tudor, depending on what day it is. I am a semi-retired architect living at Doheny, and surf every day. Stay Healthy.

After sauntering through most of my life in SoCal, I finally figured out that the best place to live is the place you love most. I moved to Yosemite Valley in 2002 and became one of several managers at the Yosemite Lodge. Simplicity has its merits: I spend most of my free time hiking and backpacking in the Sierra Nevada, bicycling on the scores of bike trails and roads throughout the valley floor, and I can’t wait for the cross-country skiing trails to open up this winter from the Badger Pass Ski Area to Glacier Point and Ostrander Lake.
The attached picture is me in the summer of 2001 at PacBell Park in San Francisco. What an incredible venue that is by the bay. I was sitting in the middle of a sea of orange and black (which included by brother Richard and sisters Leslie & Laura, all Samohi grads), but the outcome of the game was in my favor: Dodgers 14 / Giants 8. And by the way, we do indeed have running water, electricity, and even satellite TV in Yosemite . . . . . I couldn't survive without ESPN's SportsCenter.
I’m single now, but my daughter, Renée, is a senior at UC Riverside and will most likely attend UC Santa Cruz in 2003 to obtain her masters in English Literature. Drop me a line, particularly if you’re going to be visiting Yosemite National Park for a vacation or backcountry experience. I know the trails in the Central Sierra like the back of my hand. Well, that’s my updated info.
Kindest Regards, Kenny
Have taught at the elementary, high school, and university level. Guess I never really made it out of the education system. Currently work as a district administrator for Belmont-Redwood Shores School District south of San Francisco. Would enjoy hearing from former classmates in the Bay Area.

Working for Disney on virtual reality rides...WAY COOL STUFF!!! I have my own business working as an electronics prototype consultant. My work takes me to many places, including Florida and IL, as well as Glendale.
My hobbies include Ham Radio, the Santa Monica Drum Corps and Halloween with the Great Pumkin (sic) Production Company. Playing drums has been a lifelong passion and I have indulged in that for the last 25 years. Each year is consumed with many activities associated with these groups. The Santa Monica Drum Corps is going stong with many group activities over the next several months, including incorporating previous members of the College in our current activities. So, if you are a former band member, drummer or not, let us know and we'll get together. It'll be a BLAST!
Any alumni needing a place to plant a tent for the reunion

Big changes for me and my wife Susan (Epps, Samohi '74) After 52-1/2 years of living on the Westside, within 5 miles of the family home in Santa Monica, circumstances dictated that we move to Orange County. So move we did on Aug. 20, 2004, to a house in the Northwood section of Irvine. I have been working on the sports desk at the Orange County Register since 1997 and more than 7 years of driving from Culver City to Santa Ana every day had taken its toll. The move has been great and to those who hype O.C., we are believers. My commute went from 45 miles to 5 miles, from 90 minutes (or more) to 15 minutes (or less). Susan and I have a 12-year-old daughter, Alexandra, who is in 7th grade.
Santa Monica, CA 90403
After earning an MBA I worked for the U.S. Congress as an analyst and participated in the Watergate investigations. After holding a similar position in the California Legislature and a tour as director of the Little Hoover Commission, I went to the private sector. In 1989, I opened up my own public relations firm in Marina del Rey where we provide services to corporations and non profit organizations. Interfacing with state and local government is still a big part of my business and life. My wife (who is also my partner in business) and I have been together for 12 years and have raised three daughters the eldest of which just got married; the middle one is engaged and our youngest is a junior at UC Berkeley. Running our own business and raising a family doesn't allow much free time for sports or activities, but we love to travel whenever we have a chance and have been to France, England, Spain, Italy, Israel, Switzerland, and Denmark in recent years. I still love tennis,! but play it with my new son-in-law. It's been an exciting and fulfilling journey and can't wait for the new chapter each day brings.
Happily living in Newport Beach with my son who is ll years
old. We have two dogs and are extremely busy with sport activities.
I have had my own human resource management consulting business
for past four years and prior to that was a Vice President of
Human Resources for a fortune 500 company. Love life, all my friends
and family.
Bringing you up to date---Muriel and I followed my mother to Leisure World in Laguna Hills, now Laguna Woods, CA December of 2000 from Encino, CA. Muriel worked at Mission Hospital until August of 2007 and we are now both retired in Orange County. Would love to hear from any SAMOHIans. Peace, love and good health to all Pepe
Hi everyone..."this is Rosemary O'Brien with Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.....news." Hah! Memories of delivering campus news every morning just outside Mr. Leach's office. I'm sure many of you covered your ears once or twice. Hope it wasn't too much of an intrusion! Was almost on my way to becoming Katie Couric. Who knew that I would have an opportunity to work with her a few years later! After graduating from U.S.C., I continued to work professionally singing and dancing and then used my communications degree and stumbled into a public relations career. Have worked in the entertainment industry in Los Angeles and in New York for the past 25 something (ahem!) years! The work's been terrific and it's introduced me to many wonderful people and taken me to places and events around the world. I'm currently consulting and doing freelance work for ESPN as well as for numerous charities. I have wonderful memories of SAMOHI and send everyone warmest wishes for good health and lots of love and happiness! Rosemary
I am and have been in the cycle of work, retire, travel; then go back to work again, retire again (aka downsizing), travel for more work where I visit with Samohi friends. But now I am working in the NO. Bay, Sebastopol and only travel for vacation or to visit my children, 14 y.o.g. & 17 y.o.b in Portland, OR. It's a nice place to visit but not to make a living. I rely on architecture and project management income, but have done alot of R&D stuff in sculptural art, home remodel, and creative technology. I've promised many friends on this website that I will be visiting the old home town soon, but you won't know it till I'm there. I'm disappointed so many of our girlfriends from the 'over-the-hill' gang are not in here too... Barb, Sue, Stacy, Sally, Gail.
Hello everyone... recently retired after 26 years in the Air Force now a contractor with Defense Information Systems Agency. Got to travel alot in the USAF including 4 years in Athens, Greece and a couple in the UK. Deployed to Desert Storm and Invasion of Panama and very happy not to be going back to the Gulf... I'd rather golf! Married 22 years, no kids, 3 Shetland Sheepdogs. Look forward to the next reunion - hopefully not at the Police Academy! Cheers... Dave R sends
After graduating from Samohi, I briefly attended SMCC (now SMC). I married Michael Washington ('68) and had one daughter, Angela Washington ('90).
Greetings to my friends from Samohi. I have been living in Dana Point, California, for the past 12 years and enjoy this beautiful harborside community. My law office is currently located in Laguna Hills and I represent clients for their Workers' Compensation claims resulting from job injuries. My daughter attends UC Berkeley and my son is enrolled at Woodbridge High School in Irvine.
I cherish the memories of my years at Samohi and hope that God has blessed each of you in as many ways as He has done for me and my loved ones.

I was married and have one son who is a graphic artist. I sopped playing tennis and decided to take up rock climbing. This is Chris Seil, class of '70. I've been in Texas for 16 years (I married a Texan, and that was the end of California), and have missed all my reunions due to business reasons. I'm still alive and well, and would love to hear from any of my former classmates. I am specifically looking for John and Paula Baum, who have moved from the last address I had for them in Suisun City, CA.

Still have fond memories of Samohi. Son Ryan 21 attending SDSU and daughter
Jennifer is going to PCC and soon off to UCLA. Working in the Aerospace industry
here in the South Bay.
Still in San Ramon, CA (for past 8 years) with husband, Jeff of 25 years, and two wonderful daughters (17 and almost 14). I work as the Administrative Assistant at my church (Canyon Creek Prebyterian Church) and love it. The people are wonderful! Hi to those of you I have been in touch with -- Ruth, Raylene, Deni, Janice, Diego, Kathy). I would love to hear from any former classmates. Remember to give thanks for your blessings!
Feature film director, sound designer (author "Sound Design: The Expressive Power of Music, Voice and Sound Effects in Cinema"), musician. After living 15 years in Brazil, fathering 2 boys, I'm currently living in Topanga.
I'm still working for a nonprofit in Boston, MA, doing drug prevention work -- been there 18 years. Our work has changed a bit over the years, with less work with teachers and students in schools, and more with community coalitions working to change conditions in their neighborhoods. It's something new every day, which is why I'm still there. I still get to work on curriculum writing once in awhile, most recently a project to train youth in Ontario, Canada, to work in tobacco prevention. In November, 2004, I finally got married to my partner of over 20 years, Denise. Good ol' liberal Massachusetts passed a law allowing gay marriage, so we decided to take advantage of it. We had a relatively small (65 guests) ceremony and had a ball! It snowed that morning, which was a surprise, but it turned out a plus, since our outdoor photos were beautiful (though a bit chilly!). I would still love to hear from any former members of the MSS Spray!
In the '70s I graduated from UCBerkeley with a BA in Computer Science, got married, and worked in the family business. In the '80s I had two kids, a boy and a girl. In the '90s I realized a life long dream and went back to school to study music composition, became single, and sent my son off to college. In the first 4 years of this decade, I sent my daughter off to college, and received my MA in music composition on the same weekend that my son got his MS in Mechanical Engineering. Its been an interesting life, with plenty of ups and downs. I wonder what the future will bring...
Been back East for 25 years now, have two girls (both 12) and still with my temporarry job out of college after 30 years. Weight less now than when I graduated but have shrunk a little also. Best to all
