Spent many years studying the "unbearable lightness of being". Joined the military at age 32 while on the lam from Canadian bookies. Ended up in Alaska. Earned AA Degree 1983, Bachelors of Secondary English Education 1986, AS Degree Paralegal Studies 1990, Doctorate of Theology, History and Comparative Religious Studies and Semitic Languages 1994. Currently operate Equal Employment Opportunity Investigation Corporation. Our business is employment law and education serving Agenices and unions in labor law resolution.
I graduated from UCLA with a degree in Art. Married a lawyer and moved to San Luis Obispo in the early 70s (two great kids came out of that marriage). Divorced after 18 years. Married a park ranger in 1993 and am still happy. I work as webmaster (mistress?) for the Planning & Capital Projects Department at Cal Poly (State University). I've kept in touch with just two people: Donna Horan and Mary Lou Dean. I'd love to hear from anyone and everyone.
Soon after graduation, I married Larry Coleman '65 (now deceased) and from that union, I have my wonderful son, Michael, an artist and teacher who resides in St. Louis, MO. Twenty-two years ago, I married my husband Pat & got to 'retire'(on his shirt-tails ;-) when he retired after 30yrs as a L.A. City Firefighter. For the past ten years we 'full-time RV'ed' & really saw this country. Now, we've decided to settle down again and put a house on our property here in Congress, AZ. Congress is an 'official' AZ ghost town, about 15mi north of Wickenburg. My old pal Myrna (Gray) Crowell and I came to the last reunion... and are making plans for our next one. It was really neat seeing so many & hearing about what LIFE had brought and where it had taken us. This site is cool :-)
I left California in 1969. Have been living in Alaska since then. Divorced, 1 Boy now 18 yrs old. Still working but hope to retire soon. Would love to hear from any of my classmates!
Hello there! Still living in the Palisades with husband Michael. Both kids are grown up and out. Lawson (34) works for the NFL and lives in SM; Vanessa (24) works at Payden & Rygel Investment Firm in downtown LA and lives in Manhattan Beach. I'm on my 20th year at CSU Northridge. (I've almost given up on the 405, and take Topanga Canyon home or telecommute!) Mom's fine at 82 and still in the house on 7th. I'm directing our Faculty Instructional Development Center, and teaching the Freshman Seminar! What a kick that has been! Just love 18 year olds. Michael is still at CSU Dominguez Hills. Having fun....! Cyn.D.
Happily married to Allan, 34 yrs. Moved to OR. 30 yrs. ago from Granada Hills. We have three grown children, all married. Four grandchildren we enjoy. We keep active, and feel younger than we are. We are both retired and enjoying spending more time together. Would like to hear from old '65 classmates. I just discovered this site recently and found a few old friends I am going to contact.
A cheerful hello to all of my classmates. High school was a wonderful, safe place when we all had the opportunity to attend. I think we were all lucky. I have the best memories and frankly wouldn't mind doing it all over again!
Life has presented many twists and turns for me. I earned a BA in Anthropology from UCSD and continued my education at SDSU to earn a Masters in Social Work. After working part time as a counselor and raising 3 boys, I retired. My boys are 31, 29 and 23. I now enjoy traveling with my husband of 24 years. We have friends in Europe we see often and we also enjoy traveling the US and Canada in an RV. I love the mountains and high country lakes. My boys are all raised and out of the house. When I am not traveling, I reside in Del Mar area of San Diego. In 2002, I was diagnosed with cancer. After a lengthy battle, I did Survive! I am now in remission and back to traveling and enjoying life to the fullest!
I am in my 21st year at UCLA. I am an Administrative Analyst with the Department of Surgery/Head and Neck. I will be married to Dean Kiel for 19 years this June 5. Dean is from the class of '56. I have two sons, Jason Jensen class of '91 and Adam Jensen class of '95. I have a beautiful daughter-in-law, named Jeanine, married to Jason and a beautiful new granddaughter named Jordan from Adam and his significant other Hailey. I have two beautiful step-daughters. Janet who lives in Simi Valley and has given me two wonderful grandsons Jeremy and Justin. Susan who lives in Florida and has given me two wonderful grandsons Ian and Trent and an adorable granddaughter Autumn. I am busy with the Night Lights a women's group that helps the Assistance Leaque of Santa Monica raise funds for the less fortunate children of Santa Monica. I am active with my husband with the Benelvolent and Protective Order of Elks. My husband is very active in the Elks. He has been a member of the Santa Monica Elks for 41 years.
My wife Dawn (Defore - from Pali Hi) and I recently moved back to Texas where I joined the faculty of Texas A&M University's new School of Rural Public Health as a professor and director of a new center for rural community health. Spent the previous 10 years in Pennsylvania running a consulting practice and before that 15 years in hospital administration (5 in PA, 10 in TX). Our oldest of our 4 sons and his wife are expecting our first grandchild in January. The youngest moved with us to TX but returns to Bethel College in Minn in December - so we're about to be empty nesters. Two middle boys are working/in school in PA. Have stayed in touch with a few classmates, but would enjoy hearing from others. Samohi was great - especially teachers Mr. Wagnon and Mr. Vaughn.
I have gotten several wonderful responses from my previous submission. I hope for more. I am a teacher (government, psychology) at Pahrump Valley High School in Pahrump, Nevada which is a little community about 60 miles northwest of Las Vegas (on the way to Death Valley from there.) This is my 16th year back at teaching after eleven years of sales and marketing (real estate and timeshares primarily) and five years of teaching in Bend, Oregon before that. I would very much appreciate a xerox copy of the class pictures of our graduating class; my copy of the annual for that year was 'lost' in the shuffle of my divorce years ago (from a beautiful and wonderful lady who 'gave me two equally wonderful and beautiful children and deserved much better than I gave her.) By the way, God has granted me a second beautiful and wonderful lady to call my wife so even rascals like me can be forgiven. I would especially like to make contact with Bill Hull, Chip Thiers, Chris Covey, T! erry and Sandy Vaughn, Dik Golden, Jon Kastendiek (spelling?), Suzie Sadke (spelling?)and, I am sure, others whom will come to my mind right after I submit this or when I receive a copy of those class pictures. God bless each and every one of you!
We just found this site. How wonderful to hear about so many classmate's lives. I've been married to Roger Jackson (64) for 35 years and he has been with LAPD for all that time. He may retire this year. We've lived in Thousand Oaks for 34 of those years and have a 33 year old son, Dean, and a 31 year old daughter, Stacey. Dean works for Adelphia and Stacey works for Amgen. Both are married and Dean has given us twin grandchildren - a boy and a girl. I've been fortunate enough to be able to stay at home while our kids were growing up. Now I work two days a week at Amgen and sub for the Conejo Valley Unified School District here and there. I would love to find Mary Ann Macari, if anyone knows anything about her.
Well, I'm getting ready to ride off into retirement after 33 years in education. I have been Principal at Redondo Union High School in Redondo Beach, CA for the past 6 years and will retire at the end of June,'07. My wife and I will be splitting time between our homes in Manhattan Beach, CA and Indian Wells, CA, when we're not traveling, visiting with our son or spending time with my parents who still reside on Pine St. in Santa Monica. Overall, it has been a wonderful journey since our graduation in June of '65, although, it has gone by much too fast. I have a new email address, so if you want to connect, you know what to do.

Got my law degree and opened up a practice in "Old Hangtown" after 2 years of practice in Venice and Marina Del Rey. I now have 3 children, 25, 19 and 15. I am a Geologist and Webmaster/CD/DVD-ROM publications Editor/producer at U.S. Geological Survey in Menlo Park, California. I was the lead geologist on the Sierra Nevada Ecosystem Project team and was senior author on the section on geology and minerals issues. I received my bachelor's degree from Humboldt State University and my Masters from San Jose State University, both in Geology. I have been with the USGS since 1977 and have produced over 100 publications and 12 abstracts; most recently (2004) I was umpteenth author on geology in northeastern Asia. My geologic and mineral-resource mapping as well as potassium-argon geochronology studies have taken me to Alaska, the Great Basin, and the Sierra Nevada. I have made Congressional briefings on mineral issues and in 1993 received the Department of Interior's Superior Service Award for accomplishments in the USGS Wilderness Program.
I am a visual artist and an now a spiritual counselor. I have

I am recently retired and have been even busier. Have been in touch with only a couple 1965 Samohi grads over the years. After Samohi, I moved to the SF Bay Area and Northwest and attended college in Colorado. I married there and later completed college back in my home state of Oklahoma. My children were born there. We started our life as a family and lived in most parts West of the Mississippi, working on or near Native American Indian Communities. Our children are living in the San Diego area. We now spend most of our time there or in the Bay Area. We hope to tour the South and settle in Texas or Louisiana. I'd love to hear from any of my fellow alumni.

My wife Denise have been married for 18 years, and live in South Orange County, CA. We both work out of the house as training consultants. I still play lots of tennis. My son Justin recently graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago. We have hosted many foreign exchange students from around the world.
Hi! The rumors of my demise have been slightly exaggerated! I did have three years as an Army Special Forces Medic after high school, but thankfully, I survived Viet Nam without injury! I am now pretty much retired, working on my golf game, and enjoying that.
I've been married to Jackie Bartschi Fisher('67) for almost 32 years, and we have lived right here in Santa Monica. We have two kids who also went to Samohi: Dan ('90) who is living near Detroit with his wife, and Becky ('92) who lives in Miami with the love of her life. That means we travel more than we used to. But, I'm dealing with it. That's about it. I am alive and well. You all take care. Eddie
Hi Everyone! After teaching at Lincoln for 24 years, my husband Earle (a former teacher at Webster Elementary School in Malibu) and I retired to northern Idaho. We love it here: lots of lakes for boating and water sports and mountains for skiing. It's really fun having "seasons"! While here I have run into several ex-students, as well as other Samohi alumni. Would love to hear from anyone from "the old days", and to find out what my old Lincoln "kids" are doing!
Library Media Specialist in Oklahoma City Public School District; Nominated Who's Who Among Teachers in America 2002; Grandmother of Terry Harris, Jr., almost 7, and mother of 1983 Samohi grad, Roxanne Denise Smith (Harris). Looking forward to getting back in touch with old acquaintances and looking forward to coming to a Samohi reunion before I'm too old to enjoy it. I'm just an email message away.
I'm semi-retired and now surf frequently at county line and Bay Street. If you see a yellow '50 Ford Woodie parked at the beach, I'm close by so look me up and say hello. Any other classmates who still surf or who want to learn, give me a call.
I'm Retired and living on the Columbia River in Richland Washington and enjoying life.
Retired US Army
Still living in Southern California and loving it as much as ever. My husband, Nils, and I have lived in Topanga for 22 years, only a year less than we've been married. No children, neither one of us wanted to stay home and be "mom."
Work keeps us both busy - he's a sound editor (puts all the door closes, car bys, and whateve sound needs to be added so you hear what you see at the movies. Currently he's been working on a couple of projects one for Dreamworks (Spirit, an animation movie) and the other for Disney (can't remember the name but it's with Angelina Jolie).
I'm the controller at a motion picture advertising company. It's fun, keeping track of all the money and the different departments - graphics, print (posters, billboards, bus sides - we did everything for Shrek), broadcast (Buffy, Roswell, Eighties commercials, and features (trailers and commercials for Pearl Harbor, Shrek, Sixth Sense, and Lord of the Rings).

Married for over 32 years to Helene Harris Hill. Two sons, fourteen foster children. Helene passed away 9/23/03. Looking for a friend from high school, Tommy Cleveland Monroe. Hope all are doing well and see you one day at a reunion.
Tequesta, FL 33469
We last saw you in 1995 at the 30th reunion when we were just moving from Bellvue, Washington to Tequesta, Florida. We left the runion flew back to Seattle and took 2 1/2 weeks for a great drive to Florida. We have two kids, Marshall A. (4/2/90) and Kelsey (2/17/87). So at this old age we are kept pretty busy. I have been a management consultant since 1984 when I sold my manufacturing business in Marina del Rey. My wife Cheryl is a flight attendant for United airlines and flys out of Miami to South America. We get back to SM often as I still own a building in Marina del Rey and my oldest daughter Stacey (11/3/69) and her husband Mark Copeland still live on San Vicente in SM. I was recently pursuaded by the local surf club, the Jupiter Noseriders, to bring my old surf movies out of the attic. I had a blast re cutting the old footage of Malibu, SM, Huntigton, etc. All our old surf friends are represented on these shots. The recut really turned out pretty good, much bette! r than was shown at Samohi in 1965. The local guys, all oldies like us, want me to put it on video and sell it, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. If you were on the HOSHI REEF SURF TEAM, let me know where you are.
Since the last posting I have started a local band of "old farts" as my kids say, Midlife Crisis. We have fun playing at charity events and parties. Florida is great and our town is kind of like Santa Monica was in the 1950's. The surf is pretty good and we live right ont the Loxahatchee River. I'm pretty involved with my 13 year old son Marshall in Boy Scouts and we hope to be able to go the the National Scout Camp at Philmont, NM in 2005. We even found some old photos of my trip there in 1961. The Jupiter Noseriders is a local surf club of oldtimers and I have shown the old movies of Malibu, Rincon, Santa Monica several times. They want me to put them on Video and sell them but I can't remember the names of everyone. So, all you members of the Hosi Reef Surf Team, help me out. I know you are out there. Hang Ten!
Currently working at Jet Propulsion Laboratory, NASA in Pasadena, California. It is a fascinately universe!! Here on earth and in outspace. I have three grown children (2 girls and 1 boy). I currently live in Redondo Beach, CA.
Hello to all who remember. After wandering a bit in the late 60s, living on a commune in Oregon in the early 70s, I was a journalist in Oregon and Washington (Pulitzer for Mount St. Helens) and then moved to New Jersey and went to law school. Now practicing (emphasis in employment law) and playing golf. Oregon commune to a New Jersey country club -- what a long, strange trip it's been. Would love to hear from anyone and everyone.
Right after high school I joined the Navy for four years. I got my AA from SMCC and my bachelor degree in computer science at Cal State Noridge and a MS in Engineering Management from Tufts University. Since then I am currently a lead engineer at the MITRE Corporation (an FFRDC). I have two two children and two step children. I have been hard to find because I am currently living at my 39th address which includes 4 countries in Asia and the Pacific. I still look at my years at SAMOHI with very fond memories.

Hi! I have been married for 30 years, have two children (Jeremy 27, and Ashleigh 24), and one grandson (Jake 22 months). I have worked for GTE, now Verizon, for 27 years and hope to take an early retirement package in the VERY near future. My husband retired from GTE in 1993 and has been the Operations Director for several Sr. PGA golf tournaments over the past 7 years. I have not kept in touch with any classmates, except those who also work at GTE (Pat Chavez and Lillian Paynter). This is a nice site - I'm glad I found it.
SORRY I MISSED THE LAST REUNION BUT UP FOR THE NEXT ONE
I have been living in Nipomo (SLO county) for ten years. I drive CCAT transit buses all over the county. On saturdays I drive from San Luis to San Simeon; a beautiful drive I never get tired of! I have a grown daughter (20) and a really nice live-in boyfriend. We love the area here, but it's growing by leaps and bounds and we are thinking about moving to a small town in northeast AZ in about four years.
After my new house, jeep, and service dog Tinkerbell got burnt up in November of 06, and now just finally in the new house with a new dog that I saved from the pound. Still go to LA every six months for Doctor appointments, so I get to see my old friends. Kinda freaking out about the fact I turn 60 this March.

I know you're all excited to hear an update on my life so far. After graduation from Samo, my father moved the family to the Bakersfield area to get out of "that hellhole" LA.I went to college there, then on to San Jose State where I studied Occupational Therapy. My internships took me to San Francisco, and I've lived in the bay area ever since (I was a NorCal gal trapped in a SoCal body). I've lived in Sonoma county (wine country) for twenty plus years with husband Rick and son Dallas and practiced inpatient, and now outpatient psychiatry (whine country?) I've done a lot of acting in local theater (thank you Doc Evans!) whenever they need a low rent Meryl Streep type. I'm also doing a little writing and am working on a story/novel set in Santa Monica circa 1964-65. My character is just about to enter the Castle Club on a half-asked date with a cute surfer. On an internet search I came across this site. Now you're all caught up and can sleep tonight.
Hi SAMOHI! I've been in photography in one form or another for the past 40 years, first shooting sports for Rogers Photography in West LA, then commercial imaging at Photo Art Studios in Portland, Oregon, and finaly at the University of Iowa running a medical imaging department. I finished my undergraduate work in Computer Science at Iowa and have been doing computer program development in medical imaging for the past 25 years. While continuing with programming, I went back to sports photography as a side business about 7 years ago, shooting football for Iowa. Married (1968), divorced (1989), two kids (Kim-36, Kelly-35), will be getting married again if Cindy Ramsey and I ever figure out whether we want to live in Iowa City or Chicago! Looking forward to the reunions. Would be happy to hear from my old classmates!

After 33 years in Santa Monica, living in a VERY small house, we decided to make the leap and buy a 6400 square foot home in beautiful Sarasota (which is much like Santa Monica in the 60's...including NO TRAFFIC!). My daughters, Rachael & Jennifer Sterlin, are both married now. I miss my Santa Monica friends (especially Santa Monica grad Judi Watson), but love Sarasota! Linda Pollack Tobin

After Vietnam (1967) I attended SMC, Long Beach State, and finally got a masters in art at Humboldt State. After seven years in Eureka I spent 18 years as the Art Director for the ABC affiliate here in Bakersfield. In 1991 I went back to Syracuse University and got an MFA in Advertising Design. I have been a professor of Computer Graphic Art at Bakersfield College since 1996 ( I created my own job and department ). I have had many exhibitions along the way. Did anyone have a clue how they would turn out after high school? I'm happily married for the second time. My 24 year old daughter is teaching English in Thailand and my 16 year old son just put out his first CD. I have enjoyed many reunions and want to thank those who did all the work.
I just needed to add a few lines. Thank you Jill Rose for letting me now that you are alive and well. The information that I received over 30 years ago was wrong.
Have been in Boise, Idaho for the past 20 years working in the insurance business and enjoying my dogs, skiing, golfing and lots of friends.

A few years back I was referred to this site. Since then our one son has transferred into Samohi as a student. It is a bit unsettling to be walking the campus again, only this time as a parent! There are a couple people I would like to look up. Sally Hamilton the class of '65. Also, another girl, Netta, class of '66 (sorry, no last name). If anyone can help me with info about these ladies, please contact me.

During Viet Nam, Diggles and I drove Army tugboats out of Sausalito and up into the Delta. Later we owned a bike shop together. During those years I began nibbling around the edge of documentary filmmaking, and ended up spending 25 years as an audio engineer for the producer Saul Zaentz (Amadeus, The English Patient, Unbearable Lightness of Being). Karl Baldwin are you listening? It was all your fault. Have 2 boys, 18 and 13; the little one is a cellist, the older one TBA. Mostly I work on my 2 old houses, think about getting back into photography, and wonder where my knees went.

I have been happily married for 40 years, have a fine son who is a Riverside County Deputy and a daughter who is a Registered Nurse at Loma Linda. I am a Engineer/Scientist at Boeing Huntington Beach. I married Lolita Aguila (class of 65) a year after we graduated. We have 6 Grandkids, from 4 yrs to 16 yrs. Prior to becoming an Engineer, I worked at Pacific Ocean Park for 4 yrs as a ride Forman. I would like to here from any of the guys that I played sports with, or had some classes with. I have very fond memories of my times at Samohi, John Adams Jr. High and Will Rogers elementary.
Just read over my 1999 entry -- I had forgotten that I had a plan to return to California. My daughter graduated college (biology) in 2003 and works at Sloan-Kettering Cancer Research Institute in Manhattan. My son graduations May 15 (2005) from University of North Carolina -- Chapel Hill. However, I won't be back anytime soon. My husband is holding down the fort in New Jersey while I finally get my undergraduate degree at Randolph-Macon Woman's College in Lynchburg, Va. I'm studying religion and philosophy. After spending some years in journalism, several of them as religion editor of a county newspaper, I finally found that I do have a passion for something -- that something being ethics -- and once done with my undergraduate degree, I may go to NYU for a masters. With both kids grown, we hope to find a small apartment in New York to live in during the week and keep our house in Jersey as kind of a country or weekend home. However, I won't be done til 2008, so who knows wh! at will happen. I don't thik I'll make it for the 2005 reunion I'm sorry to say because I'll be back at school. Have a wonderful time.
Am living in West L.A. between Westwood Village and Century City in the same little cottage I've rented for 17 years. Married for the second time to a wonderful Israeli-American. We both work at home on various enterprises, which is a great relief to me after 39 years in law offices. Ugh! Have partnership with a female lawyer doing general law for moderate prices which "normal" people can afford. Love getting e-mail, so WRITE ME, you guys!
Hi, guys! Am living in West L.A. across from the Mormon Temple, just off of Santa Monica Bl., between Century City and Westwood Village, in a 1942 cottage. Am single again, doing some paralegal and executive secretarial work from home, and some from offices. I talk to our old journalism teacher, Andy Dimas, from time to time. Would love to hear from any of you!
I've been married for 33 years to Al Stoffel (Class of '63). I work at UCSD Medical School. My daughter is in Medical School and my son works in TV news.

Still having a great time. Family has increased to 4 Grand Daughters and 2 Grand sons with another (could be either) on the way.
Would like to hear from classmates, especially Cindy Bowman, whom I have not seen or talked to since graduation.
