After Samohi I attended SMCC for two years then joined the Marines. I married Kathy Sterry (class of 1964) in 1967 and we moved to San Jose so I could start my career with Hewlett Packard Co. We lived in Scottsdale Arizona for about 29 years and then transferred to a little town in southeast Arizona called Patagonia. We have a lovely country home and enjoy the slower paced living. I retired from HP in June of 2002 and plan to travel to various sites in the US. I am a recent widower (8/20/01), after having a very wonderful marriage of 27
years. We have three children. After I graduated from SAMOHI, I attended SMCC
where, in 1964, I flunked out and was immediately drafted. Rather than face
the perils of the Army, I joined the U.S. Navy. I ultimately returned to SMCC,
got my act together, went to UCSC where I earned Honors in Psychology. In 1971
I entered UCLA's Law School. I received a fellowship to work in legal aid in
Santa Clara Country, CA, where I practiced law. In 1979 I began my business
career, working for high flying computer companies as a contracts manager. I've
recently accepted a RIF package from Sun Microsystems, Inc., where I worked
as a project and program manager. I am starting a new career. Hobbies are music,
dancing and staying out of trouble -- barely (these days).
Hello. I wanted to find out about the 40th reunion. Thank you
My wife, Kathleen Connelly, and I have had our first child Feb. 18 after 25 years of marriage (she's 46). Patrick David Connelly. I become the primary caregiver, a fundamental career change, one likely to keep me busy into my 90s. I'm surprised how much I like my new role ... In the meantime, I will sell the Finger Lakes Business Almanac, the business-to-business biweekly newspaper I started in 1995. (www.fingerlakesbusiness.net)
I am currently Vice President for Enrollment Services at Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington. I have been at Northwest for the past seven years. Prior to this position I served for 15 years in the University of Washington's Athletic Department, 10 years as an Assistant Football Coach and five years as an Assistant Athletic Director in charge of Football and Baseball Operations. I would enjoy renewing friendships with classmates. I hope to hear from YOU!
Married with one daughter, who lives in L.A. Recently retired from the State Library of Louisiana. Though I've lived happily in the South for 30+ years, I return to CA regularly for my ocean and mountains "fix."

We've lived in eastern rural France for many years; I translate, do Metamorphic Technique & EFT, which I also teach; my husband Harold renovates old houses. Our daughter Anna, 25, is married & living in Nice. We expect to move to southwest France later this year, and renovate yet again. We also raise cats, but not on purpose...

Last year I supplemented my bachelor's degrees. I've joined both my sons as a graduate of Purdue University - AS in Computer Graphics Technology. I'm enjoying the freedom of working part time as a math tutor at Indiana University East. It leaves me time to play at Richmond Civic Theatre and edit the newsletter plus cruise with my husband of 39 years.

Sierra Madre CA
I was happily married for 32 years. My husband, Brad, passed away in 2004. We
had a great time while he was alive -- a trip around the world and many trips
to England where I went to graduate school for three years following my time
as an undergraduate at UCSB. Wonderful memories and many good friends who I
visit as often as I can. I have a condominium in Sierra Madre, a beautiful siberian
husky to keep me company and take long walks on my days off with a good friend
from elementary school. Life is good! I have worked for 211 LA County for 25
years, a nonprofit agency that provides information and referral services for
people who dial 211. Our specialists take calls from people in the community
who need help, do an assessment of their situation and refer them to organizations
that provide the services they need. It is very satisfying to work for an organization
that makes a difference in people's lives.
As part of my job, I developed a classification system for human services that is being used throughout North America to index and access information about community organizations based on the services they provide and the people they serve. It is quite extensive -- more than 8,700 terms -- and works like a Dewey Decimal System for human services. A large part of my time is spent maintaining the system based on requests by users. The Taxonomy has abopted as a common language for human services in Canada and mandated for use in Homeless Management Information Systems by HUD. We are currently negotiating an agreement with the National Library of Medicine that will allow them to make it available to their network and to use it on their own Web site. More information than you wanted, I expect! I am also our representatives to the AIRS Board, the international association of information and referral providers. In addition to being Board secretary, I write the Standards for the! field and am heavily involved in certification of individual practitioners and accreditation of organizations like my own. It is a wonderful job with lots of perks including travel to nice places like Washington DC, Vancouver and Toronto with all expenses paid. Many of my colleagues have become good friends, so our meetings and conferences provide an opportunity for catching up over a good meal as well as accomplishing the work on the current agenda.
I enjoyed reading the descriptions you have posted regarding what you are doing in your lives and am pleased to have the opportunity to add my own contribution to the file. Though high school was a very long time ago, I still have a few fond memories.

In high school, I was a member of the band (played tuba in Marching,Pep and concert bands). I attended Santa Monica College from 9/62 to 2/64 at which time I joined the U.S. Air Force. After I left the Air Force, I went back to college and finally graduated from San Francisco State University in june of 1973. I then joined the U.S. Navy as an officer from 9/74 to 3/80 and then joined the Naval Reserves. I attained the rank of Lieutenant Commander and finally retired in January of 1996. I also received a masters degree in 1984 in Business Administration. I presently work for the Boeing Commercial Airplane division here in the Seattle area. I'm an Industrial Engineering Capacity Planner.I'm married (25 years to the same gal) and have 2 daughters (20 & 13 years old) who are both band members also.
I am currently working as an Actor, in Feature Films, Commericials, and T.V. A few of the latest films are "Pirates of the Carribean, At World's End", in the hanging scene (beginning of film), and "There will be blood" (A signal hill women). I also selling Real Estate. My oldest son, Chris Geras, class of '81, is currently sailing with his girlfriend, Christine, from Key Largo, Florida, to the islands of the Carribean, and then on to South America, and around the world. For those of you in his class whom are interested, you can track his sailing adventures on www.nicecruising.com. My youngest, Sonny, class of '91, Venice High, is currently working as Art Director on a film "Where The Wild Things Are", after the book by Maurice Sendak, and directed by Spike Jones. I am currently single, and own my own home in the Valley.

After Samohi & SMCC I spent about 20 years in the professional music field. I contracted with various opera companies, symphony orchestras and even garnered some movie, TV and radio credits. At one time I had 40 operatic roles that I could perform in ten different languages. However, as much as I enjoyed singing, as the years progressed I found that it was not as satisfying as I had hoped. So I went back to my studies, met my wife and we are now ordained ministers in The Salvation Army. I have been in charge of Salvation Army units across the Western States and at present hold the rank of Captain. A promotion is coming up soon and...who knows what the future holds! 9/17/02 About this time last year my wife and I received our promotion to the rank of Major. As of July of this year we received new and very different appointments in The Salvation Army. My wife, Noreen, is now Executive Director of a large Center and I am the Assistant to the Alameda County Coordinator. This may well be our "Swan Song" before retirement; but again, who knows what the future holds. Hope to see many of you at our next reunion. 12/12/03 Well, "swan song" it wasn't! After 3 1/2 years my wife and I have been transferred to yet another of the many different opportunities provided by The Salvation Army. As of August 2005 we have been put in charge of administering a Salvation Army sponsored, 80-unit Senior Housing complex in the Central Valley of California. On second thought, perhaps this was done so we could blend right into retirement that will be coming up in the near future. 01/05/06
My husband Bob & I are retired from Northrop Grumman Aircraft now & live in Lake Havasu City, AZ.
I have had many careers since my graduation in 1962. RN, Real Estate Sales and Electrologist. After retiring in 1998, I started selling on eBay and still do. My husband and I celebrate 35 years of marriage in August. We finally got some grand kids last year. They were born 12 days a part....no they are not twins! :-) Sending link to our most recent picture taken 6-4-06.
I attended Santa Monica College before transferring to Mankato State University in Minnesota, where I graduated with a B.S. in 1967. In the fall of 1968 my employer relocated me to their office in Stuttgart, Germany, where I worked until the fall of 1970, traveling throughout Europe. After a short stint in Washington, D.C. I returned to CA. I spent 25 years working for various computer companies as an administrative manager, obtaining an MBA in 1981. In 1995 I changed careers, going to work for Santa Monica College, a 2-block walk from my home. SMC has been a very interesting departure from "corporate America" but I plan to retire in mid-2002.
I have continued to travel through the years, and will be taking a Rhine River cruise in Oct. 2001 with some Samohi friends.
Recently, several members of the class of 1962 met to discuss possible reunion sites for our 40th, which will probably be in Aug. or Sept. 2002. Please send your address changes to: Class of '62, P.O. Box 362, Santa Monica, CA 90406.

Been living in the desert since 1994 and loving it. Own a store (Bandini Johnson) specializing in vintage barware, fondue, serveware, ashtrays and lamps along with other things from the 1930's-1980's. The store is nationally and internationally known and has been featured in numerous publications and television shows. For over 7 years the leading store of its type on the West Coast. Come on down!
I spent two years in the Navy during Vietnam. Finished college (AA, BS, MBA USC). Spent 10 years with Great Western S&L in Lending, then 13 years with GE Capital. Now in capital market mortgage sales with a REIT in Orange County. I have a wonderful wife, and a great daughter who is in 8th grade. Have lived in Huntington Beach for almost 20 years. It reminds me very much of Santa Monica in the 1950' and 60's.
Have missed Malibu and Santa Monica dearly for over 30 years (ouch), but have definitely grown very attached to country life in Sonoma. Hope to make my first reunion soon and meet up with old pals to share some memories.
After graduation from SAMOHI, I tried SMCC for a year - wasn't motivated. My good ol' uncle, SAM, decided that if I wasn't going to school, he had something else for me to do. Four years homeported in Sasebo, Japan and two tours in Nahm later, I got my mind right. Graduated from San Diego State University and got a job with the Navy - this time as an Electronics Engineer (a bit of a step up in life after playing enlisted sailor). Had a varied Civil Service career - afloat combat systems engineering to managing unmanned aerial/undersea/land vehicle programs to building major fleet command control centers. Lots of over seas travel - not to mention domestic travel. Stayed in the Navy Reserve and retired from Civil Service and the Navy in 2004. Now consulting part time with Homeland Security and Navy Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection folks. Three kids - all out of the house! One a dental tech. in Germany, one a geologist headquartered (when he's home) in Walnut Creek, CA, ! and one a personnel manager in Riverside, CA. Sue and I divide our time between San Diego, Colorado Springs, and the open road.
I am most happy to tell my friends at Samohi, that I am getting married, this coming April 21, 2007. I will be marring a lovely lady from Moorpark, California, but she was born and raised in Hawaii and attended the University of Hawaii. We met on Match.com, which shows that it does work! It was a long lonely time since my late wife Pat past away, but now I look forward to a new life, filled with a lot of love! Best wishes to you all, Ed La Mont

After Samohi and one year at SMCC I joined the Coast Guard, met my wife of 42 years on my way to Electronics school in Groton Conn. We married in October of 1964. We've raised 4 children (3 girls and 1 boy, and now enjoy our twelve grandchildren (#13th on the way). After the Coast Guard and a year in Viet Nam we settled in Hawaii. I played music there and traveled for a few years around the northwest with our band, "The Stepping Stones". I became a firefighter and EMT, later went to work for the ambulance service in Topeka, Kansas, then into work with Kansas City Youth for Christ. That brought us to our home now in Spring Hill, Tennessee. Hasn't life been something?! I was just goofing off online when I found this site. I have thought of you all often through the years. I didn't find any if my close friends on the site though. Guess I'll get busy! Love to you all.

Bob is getting ready to retire next year and I have been working in real estate for that last eight years. We both enjoy golfing and spending time with our grand- children. My mother passed away last year. Our class reunions always gave me a chance to visit her in California. I don't know if I will be going to our 40th reunion but would love to here from old friends from Samohi. While we were in California in December I did visit Samohi and just enjoyed the memories of great time and wonderful friends.
