It has been 10 years since I graduated from SAMOHI....do we get to have a 10-year reunion this year? let me know! I would be very surprised if anyone remembers me for several many reasons: I ended up in SAMOHI (11/91) as a junior practicually 1 month after coming to the US from Iran and ended up in those ESL courses! I don't think I took that many classes with most of you except the generic senior courses (i.e. US history, 12th grade English, maybe Algebra...who knows!). I graduated from UCLA in 98 (double majored in Molecular Cell Biology and Iranian Studies) and finished my master in 2000 (from UCLA again). I'm at my final year of medical school at the University of Vermont and I don't think I come back to California for residency....BUT if we're having a reunion, I'll come! So let me know. ;) Oh another reason for not remembering me: my first name was Arezou back then (don't ask me why..nobody ever called me that at home)...flip to the first page of yearbook...you'll see! what I mean. hope to see you guys in a near future. Forgetting about high school what can be forgotten, remembering the rest. Building a small empire (and hoping it doesn't crumble). Not watching tv, being scared by billboards. Getting younger as older. Still in Los Angeles.

I currently work with young children at a preschool.  Most of the children that I work with are autistic.  I have been taking many child development classes at Santa Monica College. 

The highlights: graduated from UCLA in '97; spent four years on active duty in the Army, serving in Korea, Texas and the California desert; went to UCLA law school and graduated in '04; started practicing law; recalled by the Army to active duty in July '05 for a year-long tour in Iraq. And the fun never stops...

Hello ya'll! Life has been fun since SAMO. Graduated in 97 from UC Santa Cruz with a BA in International Economics and a minor in east Asian studies. I lived in Tokyo, Japan fro a year after college teaching english and getting my Judo blackbelt. Had a blast while I was there, I highly reccomend it. Work as a commodities broker for a year after I came back to the states. Now I work for the Japanese Gov't in Downtown LA as an economic analyst/researcher, but I may change jobs soon. Hey Samo! I am glad to see you are all doing so well! Lots of scholars and noble careers you have all chosen for yourselves. I left Samo a year early and moved around a little bit. Oregon, Ft. Lauderdale, Aspen, New York for a minute. But I always come home to LA. I went to The Theatre Academy in LA for a few years and now I work as a stand-up comedian. I was on a show recently called Last Comic Standing (sadly I was NOT the last comic standing but made it to the semi-finals). I appeared as a guest on The tonight Show with Jay Leno, and have a couple articles coming out in Femme Fatale Magazine, FHM and Razor. I enjoy my work very much and find great joy and gratification in making people laugh. I missed the reunion, but I hope to see you all at the next one. Graduated from San Diego State University in 2000 with a BS in Civil and Environmental Engineering. Currently working on a MS in Civil Eng at SDSU along with working full time. Have been working in San Diego at LAW/Crandall, A MACTEC Company since spring 2000 working in the areas of storm water management and regulatory compliance, environmental site assessments for large developers, and geotechnical engineering. It has been a interesting two+ years working on engineering project that are shaping the future of the San Diego region.

My time at SDSU was such a great educational and life experience. Along with demanding classes, I was heavily involved in the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) student chapter and its concrete canoe project (YES, it is possible for concrete to float!). I was the project manager of this student project for 3 years, which was a very cool experience. I was also a Co-Chair of the ASCE National Concrete Canoe Competition that was held at the campus of SDSU, which was attended by 500+ students and faculty advisors from all over the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

Greetings! Since graduating from Samohi, I went to Westmont College and received a degree in Anthropology and then went onto Wheaton College for a M.A. in Educational Ministries. Currently, I am the Assistant Archivist at the Marion E. Wade Center at Wheaton College. The Wade Center is an archive and museum for the work of seven British authors (C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien are among the seven). Lastly, in October of 2000 my husband Greg (a fellow Westmont alum)and I got married and we now live in Chicago.

Hi my name is Maria Guerrero-Duenas. I have been married for four years and I bought my first home four years ago also. My husband and I have no children, but I have twenty first grade students. I have been teaching for five years now at SAUSD. On November, 2002 I completed my Masters Degree in Cross-Cultural Education. It's hard to believe how much time has gone by since we were in school together. I just recently came back from Jerusalem for my first year of cantorial school with my husband David, who just finished his first year of rabbinical school. It was an incredible year with a lot of challenges, due to the rough political climate of the Middle East. We will be continuing the next four years of our education in NY which we are very excited about. I have my first pulpit starting this year in Port Washington on Long Island, where I will be teaching and leading services in a reform congregation. I look forward to the journey ahead. I graduated from UCSB in 97 with my Bachelor's in Zoology and I presently work at Heal the Bay where I have been for about two and a half years. I just applied to grad school in Hawaii for Marine Mammal Behavior and Biology. Many of you would remember me as the short girl who was in flags and Madrigals. I still try to sing whenever I get a chance. I am looking to start up voice lessons again. Funny enough I grew taller than some of my friends who used to be taller than me. Professionally: I Graduated from UC Davis... job hopped from MS&L for Mitsubishi Motors (PR firm), to GTE/Verizon (ADSL Network Engineer), to Symantec (software quality assurance), and now back at Verizon (Frame Relay Network Specialist)... hmmm, where to next? Personally: Married to Johanna Ines Crespo Medina... bought a condo in Santa Monica (right across from Mr. Bill Clawson... SMALL WORLD!), and having the time of my life! I only attended SAMOHI as a senior, but had a great time. I went to UCLA where I majored in Cell and Molecular Biology. Then moved to the East Coast to attend Yale Med School. I am now in NYC in the middle of my Surgery training. Hopefully I'll be able to return to the LA area to do my fellowship in Pediatric Surgery. If anybody has Lorena Herrera's info, please let me know.

Last May I graduated from Chico State with a B.A. in Liberal Studies. I am now in the process of getting my teaching credential and would like to eventually be teaching kindergarten. I love it here in Chico and whatever you heard about it being party school you are correct. It is a big time party school and I have had lots of fun!!!

After graduation, I attended the University of Oregon, in Eugene. I got my B.S. Degree in Political Science. After graduating, I continued living in Oregon, working and volunteering for various interest groups and the local government. I moved back to LA about 3 years ago, and have been managing an internet-based clothing company. I plan on returning to school in the not-too-distant future.

I was in the Navy 1999-2004. I went to a small community college 2004-2005 and earned my Associates Degree. I went to CSUB 2006-2008 and earned my Bachelors Degree in Liberal Studies.

Hey everyone, I graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1998 with a degree in Horticulture and began working straight out of college at a commercial landscape company. I started out mowing lawns, and now I am a project manager at a great company in San Jose, running some of the south bay, and the entire east bay with over a hundred accounts. I am currently a Speech-Language Pathologist, and live in Fountain Valley. My husband, Vladimir, and I are expecting the birth of our first child in the end of January.

Right now I'm in grad school at the University of Maryland, pursuing a degree in Library and Information Science, but no I am not going to become a librarian but an archivist, and yes it does require a degree, in fact a supplemental degree is preferred. Couldn't make it to the reunion because of grad school orientation, oh well there's always the 20th!

Hello everyone!! (Thanks to Yassi who told me about this website). It's nice to read about our fellow SAMO grads. I only attended SAMO junior and senior year but I loved it. I went on to UCLA and graduated in 98. During that time I traveled to a few places: Italy, Hawaii, D.C., N.Y., Korea, and might go to Mexico this year...just love traveling when I can. I got a B.A. in Sociology but then started working in media. I am now working for Adelphia as a Producer Associate making TV commercials. And when I'm not working, sleeping or eating, I'm salsa dancing!!

Wowee! It's been years since I've thought about Samohi! Chris, Gina, Simone, what happen to all of you girls? I'm live in Santa Cruz County now. Received my bachelors in Environmental Studies from UC Santa Cruz in 2003. I now work for a small non-profit assisting farmers on the Central Coast to improve their water quality. I have a lovely dog & cat, and a sweet man in my life. I play soccer and volunteer as mentor through CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates - for abused and neglected children). I hope to return to school this fall and earn my Masters in Social Work. I'd love to hear from some old, long lost friends! Something else I can say, is that by most of my Class of 1993 - I'm certain I won't be remembered well. Back then I was a shy kid, who'd run away from her home in Ohio, and was struggling to lay my roots in California. Santa Monica was worlds apart from the world I had known. For sure, California changed me! I sprouted my wings here!

What's up SAMO? Well, I went to UC Santa Cruz and majored in surfing, which I prefer to call mind expansion vehicles aka-Craig Albers. Due to a tragic life experience which transferred my friend to another life, I began living life to the fullest searching for enlightenment. I continued to surf around various parts of the world like Hawaii, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Brazil, and Indonesia supporting myself catering to the greedy bastards that I evolved to despise whenever I needed money in between adventures.
Within these many travels, one of the things I realized was that life is more valuable when precedence is put on the value of your heart and not your wallet. I also learned that life can be enjoyed under very simple circumstances. I would eventually take a break from surfing every so often to experience a different extreme in the mountains of Colorado and Tahoe working in the usual kiss ass matter. My integrity would eventually get me fired from every job that I had.
Throughout my travels I have met some wonderful people of many different religious and socio-economic backgrounds which I attribute to all the knowledge that I have gained of the "real" world. I highly recommend you unbutton that shirt and throw away that tie, get rid of your pantyhose and take a walk on the road of life. Bless all those who have the heart to understand what the heck I'm talking about. Take it easy..........the saga continues.
