Every time I receive my Viking News I plan to send new information, but don't get it done. This time I just put it down and decided not to procrastinate any longer. I just celebrated my 80th birthday with all my family and friends as I assume a lot of '43 alumni are doing. Audrey Phillips Curtis'44 and I had alway planned to be together on our 80th, but we decided to celebrate on our Nile River cruise in October instead. I keep busy here in Florida hoping to avoid more hurricanes. I am President of the Fort Myers Beach Art Association and exhibit locally. I also volunteer at the hospital, soup kitchen and church thrift shop. I am hoping the class of '43 will be having a reunion in 2008. Thanks to all the people who are responsible for getting the Viking News out to us. |

I met husband Jack Penn (Saint Monica HS '44) at Sonja Heinie's Ice Rink in Westwood in Sep '43 and,after other marriages, we married in 1963. We live in Lake Forest, former El Toro, and enjoy our 3/4 of a century existence together. "Love will find a way." |

Retired From the USAF 1970 LT/Col 27 years active Duty. Flew B-25 WW2, B26 Korea & F4's Viet Nam 68-69. Have been in the Insurance Business since 1972. Presently June and I Specialize In Estate Planning Thru a Lawyer, With the EState Planning Group Using "The Revocable Living Trust" as the basis for the over all plan. |

| I have been married to the same man, Gordon L. Bailey (class 43)for 55 years now. I have 4 children who have all graduated from Samohi (Barbar Lynn Bailey, Linda Lee Bailey, Carolyn Bailey and James Gordon Bailey) I am in excellent health as is my husband. I played tennis until age 60 and I am still active in art. Keeps you young and healthy. I see my sister put her name on the list as well. It was fun to see all the old familiar names listed on the board. Keep well and happy everyone. |

Betty PARKER, Class of 1943: Brother's Edward Jr. PARKER b.1921; Robert Webb PARKER 1923; Richard Owen PARKER 1928 all graduated from Samohi. Betty PARKER married John "Jack" Berent MOSSEL on 7 May 1944 in Santa Monica. Jack and Betty were married for 50 years. They lived & raised their four children in one home in Canoga Park, CA until moving to Las Vegas, NV in Nov 1994. Jack passed away in March 1995. Betty's eldest son Fred Mossel, b.1946-d.1988 and only daughter Addie Mossel Harper, b.1947-d.1988, have both passed away. Betty has two surviving son's; James Edward MOSSEL b. 1950 and Michael John MOSSEL b. 1953. Betty lives in Henderson, NV where two grandchildren & one great grandchild resides. She is very active in her church and keeps busy with friends and family.

| I really enjoyed reading the email from 'kids' I knew in the 1940s. My wife, Marie Louise Hart-Penn, class of 1943, and I have been married almost 40 years and enjoy life as much as possible by those in middle 70s.. Some of my best friends were garnered from old John Adams Jr. High class of 1941. I switched to St. Monica's High in 1942, went into the USAAF, crashed in a B-17 in 1944, got out 1946, attended SMCC and USC and got my Masters in Social Work in 1952, worked five years at Norwalk (Metropolitan) State Hospital as a Senior Psychiatric Social Worker, transferred to the CA Dept. of Corrections as a Parole Officer and retired in 1976. I presently am collaborating with a web master at St. Monica's Parish uploading many pictures of old Santa Monica with narratives. My parents came to Santa Monica in 1905 and 1910 and mom saved a lot of old pictures which I am preparing to share. I will advise when the site is 'UP" and what its name will be. John H. Went into Air Corp two weeks after graduation for three years. UCLA Engr. Grad under GI Bill. Career as Civil Engineer. Married to Betty for 61 years. Three kids. six grandkids, having fun in retirement. Love to hear form anybody that remembers me. |

Moved to Rocklin from Corral De Tierra (Salinas) in April of 2003. We also have a home In Tahoe Donner which is much closer to Rocklin than is the Monterey Peninsula. However my wife, Virginia died in December of 2003. I am still living a very active life of golf, skiing and mountain air! |
